What should you do in case of an emergency?

1) Your first priority is towards the safety of your passengers, attempt to park in a safe location and apply the park brake.

2) Consider isolating the engine, power and fuel.

3) If necessary evacuate passengers and render area safe.

4) Call 000 if there is a fire or injury. Notify the Police on 000 if the other driver appears under the influence of drugs or alcohol OR either party leaves the scene without exchanging details OR if a bus needs to be towed OR if Police are needed to direct traffic.

5) Call 131 444 if a truck needs to be towed. The Operations Manager may do this on your behalf.

6) Notify the Operations Manager. Advise what is required, driver change over, tow truck etc.

7) Avoid any unnecessary obstructions to traffic but secure the scene - use warning triangles if appropriate.

8) Unless requiring urgent medical attention, you should remain with your vehicle.

9) Do not admit liability

10) Exchange details with drivers of other vehicles involved - complete and "Incident Report" on return to the depot.
